Win or Else

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

The Maple Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at the ACC in a "win or else" game - it is a simple as that. A loss tonight would pretty much doom Toronto's rather slim hopes of making the playoffs; at this point in the season, giving up a point in overtime to the Canes would be devastating. Toronto has to win tonight in regulation and hope the rest of the road teams in the Eastern Conference come up big tonight. Toronto has won their last five at the ACC to bring their home over .500, but it has been a struggle all year. Leaf Nation will be looking to the Rangers (in Montreal), the Devils (in Long Island) and Florida Panthers (in Tampa Bay) to win their games in regulation.

After tonight, Toronto's next two games are in Atlanta on Thursday and at home to Crosby and the Penguins on Saturday - they have to pick up five of six points this week if they are going to have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Hazel Karma?


HAZEL'S STAR OF THE DAY
Light night in the NHL last night - so we'll pick one star.

Detroit Red Wings C Pavel Datsyuk scored the only goal of the night in the Wings' 1-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. We still can't stand Hasek, so he isn't getting a star.


TUESDAY THREE PLAY
We finished last week at + $735 - so we are out of the red for the year and stand at + $460; pretty good recovery huh? Tonight's suggested plays

Nashville over Edmonton - the Predators have to keep pace with the Red Wings, while the Oilers are having trouble icing an NHL calibre team with all of the injuries that have hit their team. Lay $100 on Nashville - $450.

Dallas over Phoenix - the Coyotes blew a 3-0 third period lead to the Stars last week, and that was at home; it is only going to be worse for them tonight. Lay $100 on the Stars - $300.

Pittsburgh over Washington - Penguins have their sights on winning their division, they won't let up on the Caps tonight. Lay $100 on Pittsburgh - $225.
