Ron Mexico - You Suck!

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

Is Ron Mexico a coach killer? I'd have to say yes - Michael Vick throws FIVE TD passes and still loses; granted one of those TDs was to Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys 38-28 victory means that the Boys have secured a playoff spot, with a pretty good chance of winning the NFC East, while the Atlanta Falcons will be left to decide what to do with Michael Vick. The Falcons tried a number of things with Vick last night, including using him as a running back - which only served to get him pounded to the turf by the Cowboys D last night.

Interesting to see that Vick was on the bench for the last series of the game - was he hurt? Was that a message being sent by Jim Mora? Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk (who stepped in to the broadcast booth for an ailing Dick Vermeil) were both questioning why Vick would allow himself to be taken out of the game. Why? Because he sucks - that's why.

In news that was sure to bring a smile to Hazel's face - the Toronto Maple Leafs handed the Rangers a humiliating beat down last night, scoring five first period goals on the way to a 9-2 victory over New York. The Leafs have won three in a row after going winless in eight games - we'd like to think that has something to do with Hazel Karma.

Unfortunately (or fortunately from our vantage point here) the Bruins didn't benefit from Hazel Karma last night, losing 6-3 to a struggling Florida Panthers team - memo to Bruins fans: you guys may hate Andrew Raycroft, but I bet you would rather have him than Tim Thomas. A good story out of Boston is that Phil Kessel's surgeon said that the procedure to remove the cancerous growth went well, and that the Bruins rookie should be practicing with the team in about two weeks.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS
Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber only had 11 carries last night, but he made them count. Barber rushed for 69 yards and two TDs, fighting and punishing the Falcons D on every run - he now has 13 TDs on the season. Honourable mention goes to DeMarcus Ware who was a force last night with 1/2 a sack, an INT for a TD and a forced fumble - Dallas' resident headcase Terrelll Owens also gets mention for a two TD performance. How bout them Cowboys?

Toronto Maple Leafs RW Kyle Wellwood had 3 goals and two assists in the 9-2 beat down of the Rangers last night - his first career hat-trick. Honourable mention goes to LW Alexei Ponikarovsky who also had a five point night, including two goals.

Calgary Flames RW Jarome Iginla had two goals and two assists in a 6-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes - which was good for yesterday's three play.

Honourable mention goes to our fellow Porkchop Mike Ribeiro who had the shootout winner against the LA Kings yesterday - that was a highlight goal (for a shootout). That'll bug my boy Johnny when he checks in today.

SUNDAY'S THREE PLAY
We broke even last night, even though we were 2-1 on the night - no thanks to the SenaTards coming up with horseshoes in Buffalo. So we go into today at + $500 for the week. Three plays at 1 pm today

Green Bay -5.5 over Detroit - I know the Packers haven't been good at home this year - but the Lions haven't been good anywhere...and I don't see them turning it around today. Lay $100 on the Packers today.

Pittsburgh -3.0 over Carolina - I just see Pittsburgh running the ball all afternoon against a very weak Panthers run D. The Panthers are a mess right now and I don't see it getting any better today against the Steelers. Lay $75 on the Steelers.

Philadelphia +5.5 over NY Giants - I hate them both, but this spread is too high. The Giants had a good game against a Panthers team that is reeling right now. The Eagles seem to have the bounces going their way these days...I'm taking that Eagles for $50.

I also like the Saints to cover today...but we'll leave it at three.

That's about it for this morning...have a great one peeps. Oh yeah, just in case I wasn't clear enough earlier - Ron Mexico, you suck...on so many levels and in so many ways.

HAZEL'S SUNDAY HOROSCOPE
All you need to do is harness your talent and skills in order to make more money. Travel and talking to people who understand your vision will be what helps you get things off the ground. 3 stars

Hazel, I hope things are groovy in your world...enjoy your NFL Sunday.
