NFL Picks - Straight Up

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

I survived a shaky week to stay in first place in the straigh up pool - but the lead was narrowed down to 4 points; so with that in mind, I took a little longer to make this week's picks.

16) CHICAGO over Tampa Bay - Devin Hester might outscore the Bucs offence this Sunday. Look for the Bears to roll in this one.

15) NEW ORLEANS over Washington - two teams going in completely different directions - the Saints being the NFL's biggest surprise, while the Redskins are one of the biggest disappointments. This one could get ugly in a hurry.

14) BALTIMORE over Cleveland - the Browns couldn't get it done against the Steelers; what are they going to do against the Ravens? Nothing!

13) NEW ENGLAND over Houston - I can't see the Pats being as bad as they were last week. New England won't drop this one, no way - no how.

12) SEATTLE over San Francisco - look for Shaun Alexander to have a big day. Remember, the 49ers tend to get blown out against the better teams in the league - if Hasselbeck is on, Seattle is one of those "better teams".

11) SAN DIEGO over Kansas City - Sorry Hazel, but I have to win this pool. Tomilinson vs Johnson - 1 vs 1A. The difference will be San Diego's defence.

10) GREEN BAY over Detroit - the Packers are bad, but the Lions are terrible. Favre won't lose to Kitna - its time to end the Matt Millen experience.

09) Pittsburgh over CAROLINA - the Steelers are playing some inspired football, albeit against some bad teams - right now, Carolina is a very bad team. Steelers run the ball all day on Sunday and end Carolina's playoff dream.

08) INDIANAPOLIS over Cincinnati - while the love-in with the Bengals is back on, people seem to forget that defence was pretty bad. I can't see Manning and the Colts dropping this one on a Monday Night.

07) Jacksonville over TENNESSEE - both teams are on a high, but I think Jacksonville will ride the momentum of slapping Manning and the Colts around to a win in the land of Elvis.

06) Denver over ARIZONA - Arizona can't stop the run, Denver is among the best running the ball - talk amongst yourselves. Denver wears down the Cardinals D and wins this one in the fourth.

05) Dallas over ATLANTA - Cowboys make up for a stinker against the Saints. I'd put more on this one, but Ron Mexico screws me week in and week out.

04) N.Y. Jets over MINNESOTA - two pop gun offences square off under the dome - I'm taking the Jets D to be the difference in this one.

03) St. Louis over OAKLAND - I can't figure the Rams out, this should be a no-brainer...but.

02) Philadelphia over N.Y. GIANTS - call it a hunch.

01) BUFFALO over Miami - I'm hoping for snow in Buffalo on Sunday.
