NFL Picks - Proudly Sponsored By Kilkenny

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae if she is checking in.

First things first - good and bad news for Hazel. First the bad, the Bruins lost to the SenaTards last night by a count of 3-2; from all accounts, the Tards dominated the game. We missed it because we were watching the Maple Leafs beat the Canadiens by the same 3-2 score; that's the good news for Hazel. Captain Mats Sundin had a lucky goal in the second to tie the game at two, but he dominated every time he stepped on the ice. The Habs couldn't push him off the puck all night, which resulted in a few scoring chances for Jason Blake and Alexei Ponikarovsky. The game went in ebbs and flows with each team taking the play to the other - but all in all, the Leafs were full marks for the win.

No feedback on the Suicide/Survivor Pool - thanks gang. For the record, we are in it to win it - so that means we are going to ignore the obvious choice Pittsburgh, and go with the Redskins against the Jets who are sitting Chad Pennington. That defence better make up for being torched against Tom Brady and the Patriots.

On to this week's NFL picks - we're hoping the Kilkenny we downed watching the Leafs helped the picks, it is shaping up to be a tough week. If you have been here before, you know the drill; spreads are locked on Wednesday - 16 points for your best pick and 3 for the pick you are least confident in.

16) San Diego -7.5 over MINNESOTA - after screwing us in one survivor pool, the Chargers finally have things going the way they want and expected. The Vikings have had a tough time scoring points, and things only figure to get tougher for them today.

15) Washington -3.5 over NY JETS - Eric Mangini has officially thrown in the towel on the season and rookie QB Kellen Clemens to the lions by starting him against a defence that will be looking to rebound after the embarrassing performance against New England.

14) New England -5.5 over INDIANAPOLIS - this is a statement game for New England - they'll be looking to stick to Colts coach Tony Dungy for his comments on videogate. Colts D hasn't faced a good passing offence all season - Randy Moss and Co. will test those inexperienced corners.

13) Dallas -3.5 over PHILADELPHIA - the Cowboys will be looking to drive a stake into Philadelphia's heart with a win. You know what we think about McNabb in big games - Dallas fans remember Roy Williams picking McNabb and taking it all the way back for a come from behind win on Monday Night. McNabb sucks.

12) KANSAS CITY -2.5 over Green Bay - Hazel rule still in effect; but we like the Chiefs against a Packers team coming off a tough Monday Night win against Denver. K.C. should be able to control the ball with their running game and keep Favre off the field. Oh yeah, we still think Green Bay is counterfeit.

11) DETROIT -3.5 over Denver - Lions D is playing well and their passing game should be good for a few big plays against a Denver D that isn't tackling well and susceptible to the long ball.

10) NEW ORLEANS -3.5 over Jacksonville - the Jags have issues on both sides of the ball, at QB and on the DL. The Saints should benefit from the support of a home crowd that wants to believe in them.

09) TENNESSEE -4.5 over Carolina - We like the Titans D to smother and dominate the Panthers with Vinny T at the helm. The Titans will pound LenDale White in the first half and wear the Panthers down.

08) CLEVELAND -1.5 over Seattle - the Seahawks are the "Steelers West" - they don't travel well at all. Seattle has a history of awful games when they travel east - they fold. Cleveland will find a way to get it done.

07) ATLANTA -2.5 over San Francisco - the 49ers have been awful over the last few weeks, the Falcons have kept themselves in a few games against some quality opposition. Atlanta's D should be able to control Smith and Gore, and Happy Feet Harrington should be ok without Byron Leftwich looking over his shoulder.

06) Arizona +3.5 over TAMPA BAY - we like the Bucs to win, really; but the Cardinals have become poster boys for the backdoor cover. We don't trust the Bucs offence to score enough points to blow this one out early...so look for the Cardinals to cover.

05) Cincinnati +1.5 over BUFFALO - Carson Palmer should have a good day against a Bills D that gives up a lot of yards. Rudi Johnson coming back is enough to tilt the scales in the Bengals' favour.

04) Baltimore +8.5 over PITTSBURGH - call it a hunch pick. Steelers win, but Ravens physical D may keep it close.

03) OAKLAND -3.5 over Houston - picking Culpepper - ugh.

SATURDAY'S THREE STARS
Atlanta Thrashers RW Ilya Kovalchuk had three goals and an assist to lead his team to a huge come from behind 6-4 win over the Lightning.

Minnesota Wild RW Marian Gaborik had two goals and an assist to lead the Wild to a 4-1 win over the Flames. He's the best player you haven't heard of.

Vancouver Canucks LW Daniel Sedin had two goals and an assist in a 4-3 win over the Avs in Colorado last night.

SUNDAY THREE PLAY
We had a great night last night picking four winners and lowering the total to - $35 for the week. Today's suggestions (there may be another one or two added before 12:00 pm Eastern.

San Diego -7 over MINNESOTA - we like L.T and Rivers to generate 24 points which is more than enough to cover here against a Minnesota team that can't move the ball with any consistency. Lay $100 on the Chargers.

Washington -3.5 over NY JETS - Jets rookie QB Kellen Clemens will be lucky to get out with his life against an angry Skins D. Lay $100 on the Skins.

Kansas City -2.5 over Green Bay - Arrowhead is one of the toughest places in the NFL to get a road win - go with the Chiefs here. Lay $100 on K.C.

That's it for this morning gang - thanks for taking the time to check in. Have a great one peeps.

Hazel, we hope things are groovy in your world - enjoy your NFL Sunday.

We're Out!
