Gagne Back To Texas?

There is strong speculation that Red Sox FA RP Eric Gagne will return to Texas the club the Red Sox got him from at the trade deadline.
If as expected Gagne re-signs with Texas the most in return the Red Sox will get is a 2nd round sandwich draft pick not a 1st. Gagne is rated as a Type B player by the Elias Sports Bureau who ranks players to determine their value.
Curt Schilling and Mike Lowell are Type A's and would require a 1st round draft compensation pick from the club that signs them.

So Gagne the most despised Red Sox player down the stretch and playoff goes back to Texas.
The end result: Theo gives up 2 great prospects in OF David Murphy, SP Kason Gabbard,a struggling closer in Eric Gagne,$3M in Gagnes salary to make the deal and 3 2007 World Series rings valued at what? high 5/low 6 figures apiece? for a 2nd round draft pick.
Great deal Theo.

Eric-
Thanks for the post.
Gagne in Boston in 2008 to win another WS ring? Not a chance.
The Red Sox do not want him back and Gagne does not want to be raked over by the fans and media like he was when he did so horrible.
Gagne wants to close again and
desperately needs a change of scenery and a pitchers park to get his confidence back.
Gagne had success in Texas and would return back cheaper than the $6M he signed when joining the Rangers. I see Gagne back to Texas for $4.5M with incentives.
Thanks again Eric.

Agree with Quikdraw.

No way Gagne goes back to a chorus of boos at Fenway. He'll go somewhere where it won't be as intense.

Not sure about Texas though - after getting a taste of winning, he may want to join a team that at least has a shot.

Just my 2.014 cents U.S.
