Slow Sunday

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae if she is checking in.

Feeling kinda sluggish - so a quick entry.

We're down with this week's "Feel-good story of the year" Cardinals OF Rick Ankiel, really we are...but did he have to do it against the Dodgers? The Cardinals couldn't have called him up next week? These guys always kill us...damn.

For those of you who read the page regularly (semi-regularly) - earlier this week we talked about the negative effects trashing Bonds has on those that came before him, highlighting the fact that some media members take a different angle on the story to be provocative. Well, read any of the Sun papers today and you'll see what we meant. Steve Simmons takes a break from bashing the Maple Leafs to write about Bonds and the home run quest - "Bonds cashes chips in early?" Leave it up to Simmons to paddle against the current.

SATURDAY'S THREE STARS
St. Louis Cardinals RF Rick Ankiel has three hits, including two home runs, and drives in three runs in a 6-1 win over Red Sox West...stinking Cardinals.

Boston Red Sox P Josh Beckett was outstanding for eight innings, coming within an out of a complete game shutout - he gave up two earned runs on eight hits while striking out eight on the Sox 6-2 win over the O's. Beckett has been a road warrior this year - he's been downright nasty.

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez hits two more home runs and drives in four to lead the Yankees to a 11-2 win over the Tribe - in typical ARod fashion...his second home run came with the Yankees leading 8-1 in the eighth...guess you can't be too careful in ARod's world.

SUNDAY THREE PLAY
We split on Friday night - leaving the total for the week at + $320. Another case of "we should have checked in yesterday" - our total would look much different had we checked in yesterday...or on Monday for that matter. Today's suggestions:

San Diego over Cincinnati - Padres are two games over .500 on road, Reds are four games under .500 at home - combine that with Jake Peavy pitching against the rockstar (Arroyo) and you've got the recipe for a Padres win. Lay $100 on the Padres - $155.

Boston over Baltimore - we'll go with Schilling over Trachsel. We think Schilling can only improve as he comes back from injury...while Trachsel is consistently below average. Lay $100 on the Sox - $170.

New York over Florida - change of heart after originally picking DBacks - we're going to go wtih the Mets avoiding the sweep today. Oliver Perez gets the nod over Rick Van Den Hurk. Lay $100 on the Mets - $230.

That's it for this morning - thanks for taking the time to check in. We might be back later with some suggestions for the afternoon and night games. Have a great one peeps.

Hazel, we hope things are groovy in your world.

We're Out.
