SS JULIO LUGO SIGNS WITH RED SOX
According to NESNs Tina Cervasio (damn I got the hots for her) former Dodger Julio Lugo has agreed to a multi year deal to play ss with the Boston Red Sox.

Lugo got offers to play 2b from other teams but preferred to play ss and bat leadoff which convinced him to sign with the Red Sox. Lugo was sought after by Red Sox GM Theo Epstein during the '06 midseason trade deadline while Lugo was with the Devil Rays who shipped Loogie to the Dodgers.

BOTTOM LINE :
Lugo improves the Red Sox offensively at ss but the BoSox will suffer defensively as Loogie is a
below average fielder. Jerry Remy compares Lugo to Nomar Garciaparra.

Translated:
A:3B Mike Lowell better work on improving his range to back up Lugo.

B:1B Kevin Youkilis better start lengthening his arms to haul in those erratic throws.

c: Fans sitting behind Youkilis along the 1b side should bring helmets for protection and gloves for souvenirs.

LORETTA RETURNING TO BOSTON ?
With the addittion of Lugo to the infield Boston now needs a 2B with decent range. Despite getting a nice offer from the Cincinnati Reds it would surprise no one if the Sox brought back Mark Loretta.

Epstein isn't completely sold on Pedroia as an everyday MLB 2b next year and Loretta's bat
would certainly add to the high OBP line-up the Sox crave.

RED SOX DODGERS EAST?
If the LA Dodgers became Red Sox West last year signing Garciappara-Bill Mueller-
Grady Little-Aaron Sele-Derek Lowe then this year the Red Sox will be the Dodgers East.
Adding former Dodgers JD Drew and Julio Lugo on the same day-the Red Sox are as I told you going to sign former Dodger closer Eric Gagne by this weekend. Gagne reportedly will sign
a 1 year deal with incentives offered by the Red Sox to cash on free agency in the '07 offseason should he return to his old Gagne lights out form.
