Strange Night In the NHL

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

Last night was one of those funny nights in the NHL - the Islanders walked into New Jersey and gave the Devils a beatdown, the Bruins blew a three goal lead against the Sabres, the Leafs lose in Florida to a banged up Panthers team, the San Jose Sharks lose to a Rangers team playing their 3rd game in four nights - you try to figure out the new NHL. I'm having enough problems with the NFL these days, speaking of which - we'll get this weekend's picks done later this afternoon.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS
It was a night for goalies last night in the NHL - chicks may digger the gunners who score goals, some chicks who are real hockey fans can appreciate a good performance turned in by a goalie.

Cristobal Huet of the Montreal Canadiens stopped 31 shots last night at Montreal blanked Carolina by a score of 4-0.

Kevin Weekes of the New York Rangers stopped 29 shots in 3-1 win in San Jose.

Manny Legace of the St. Louis Blues made 44 saves last night in a 4-1 win over Colorado. St. Louis isn't looking awful this year.


FRIDAY'S THREE PLAY
It was touch and go last night - the whole wad could have gone poof last night (and that, boys and girls, is why we don't gamble anymore). While we went 2-1 last night, the loss by the -$200 Devils meant that we would have finished the night $-25. Our total would now stand at +$229.

There isn't much to chose from today in the NHL - we don't do NBA here. So I'll start the morning off with two plays, I might post a 3rd later.

Anaheim over Phoenix - this one is likely to be a -$300, but I can't see the Ducks dropping one to Phoenix, not at this point in the season. Lay $50 down on the Ducks.

Atlanta over Washington - the Caps are coming off an extended road trip, meaning they are a good bet to lose tonight against a much better Thrashers team who will be smarting after being embarrased by Carolina at home. Lay $50 down on the Thrashers.
