Grey Cup Sunday

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

Today, the NFL takes a backseat to the CFL - that's right gang, Grey Cup Sunday today. The B.C. Lions take on the Montreal Alouettes for the big trophy. The Grey Cup, unlike the Super Bowl, is usually a great game that comes down to the wire. More on that later.

Tough night in the NHL last night - The Maple Leafs lost a tough one to New Jersey last night, despite outplaying them; New Jersey just has Toronto's number, we can't seem to beat them. Hazel would attest to that. To make things worse, the SenaTards beat the Sabres last night and plans for the Stanley Cup parade in Ottawa are back on - and you wonder why I call them SenaTards? In a little bit of good news for Hazel, the Bruins win one in overtime against the Capitals - I'm guess that will get a lot of play on this week's episode of The Buzz.

Feeling a little rushed today - so I'll get the NFL Picks and the Three Play in...we'll check back in later.

NFL PICKS VS SPREAD
The pool picks are based on spreads as of Wednesday morning - some of them have likely changed, but here it goes anyways:

16) TAMPA BAY -3.5 over Washington - Portis is out, Brunnell is out, and Moss is doubtful - just what the doctor ordered in Tampa Bay.

15) Pittsburgh -3.5 over CLEVELAND - I know I've been hard on the Steelers this year, but I'm thinking they carry over the emotion of last week's win against a Cleveland team that could be missing their number one back.

14) MIAMI -3.5 over Minnesota - Daunte Culpepper said he likely won't be back this year; the Dolphins celebrate with a win over the Vikings who seem to be getting worse with each passing week.

13) HOUSTON -2.5 over Buffalo - After an awful start, the Texans have suddenly become competitive; after a decent start, the Bills look lost. I'll take Carr over Losman.

12) JACKSONVILLE -3.5 over NY Giants - the Jags D smothers a Giants offence that is banged up.

11) New England -6.5 over GREEN BAY - Brady usually responds to doubters with a big game, and I expect one today against the Pack. Favre has played some soft defences this year - New England will definitely be a change of pace.

10) St. Louis +6.5 over CAROLINA - I took Carolina to win straight up, but I think the Rams have enough offence to keep this one close and cover.

09) DALLAS +3.5 over Indianapolis - Dallas won't make the same mistake as New England did, they will run Jones and Barber (and expect a few reverses to Glenn and Owens) all day and control the clock.

08) Seattle -6.5 over SAN FRANCISCO - the Niners usually get spanked by good teams, with Alexander back, Seattle is a very good team.

07) DENVER -2.5 over San Diego - I just have a feeling where this is going to be one of those games that Plummer actually manages. It's a pretty even matchup, but I like the Broncos at home.

06) Chicago -6.5 over NY JETS - The Bears D stuffs Pennington and the Jets today, and Grossman does enough to cover the spread.

05) BALTIMORE -4.5 over Atlanta - I don't trust Ron Mexico, betting on or against him - he always screws me.

04) Detroit +2.5 over ARIZONA - Detroit is bad, Arizona is awful. Actually, I'm only picking Detroit because I picked them to win on a long shot Pro-Line ticket.

03) KANSAS CITY -11.5 over Oakland - a lot of points to give up, I know. But have you met Hazel Mae?

02) Cincinnati +3.5 over NEW ORLEANS - this is going to be a shootout, so beware the backdoor cover. Palmer comes up big today and keeps it close...if he doesn't win it outright.

01) Tennessee +12.5 over PHILADELPHIA - the Eagles have a habit of playing down to their opposition, not that they are that good to begin with. Tennessee gets a meaningless TD at the end to cover.

There you have it gang...

SUNDAY THREE PLAY

Another tough night last night, we go 2-1 and still lose $25 bucks because the Wild couldn't get it done against the Avs. This week's balance sheet looks ugly at -$560, but we'll make it up. Remember gang, for entertainment purposes - cuz we don't think Hazel would endorse gambling.

We need to get out of a hole today - so we are going to take advantage of money lines and ignore some of the points lines. We'll go with four this afternoon.

Tampa Bay over Washington - I like the Bucs -3.5 over the Redskins, so you know I'm loving them straight up. Lay $150 on the Bucs -$170.

Miami over Minnesota - see above. I can't see Minnesota winning this game, so we'll take Miami straight up. Lay $100 on Miami -$180.

Chicago over NY Jets - Jets don't matchup well against physical teams - and they don't get much more physical than the Bears. Lay $150 on the Bears -$260.
New England over Green Bay - New England won't drop this game, no matter what the doubters say about Brady. Lay $75 on New England -$250.

There you have it - we'll be back for the afternoon games.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS
Carolina's Eric Staal had a hat-trick last night to lead the Hurricanes to a 5-3 win over a very good Dallas Stars team. The last one was an empty netter...but its all good.

NY Islanders' Mike Dunham came up big for the surprising Islanders, making 43 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers in the second of a very tough two game stint in Florida.

Montreal's Cristobal Huet stopped 39 shots against the Atlanta Thrashers last night in a 3-1 victory. When you hold Atlanta to one goal...your are doing something right.

That's about it for now gang - have a great one peeps!

HAZEL'S SUNDAY HOROSCOPE
Take a look at some investments that interest you. A residential move or property deal looks quite favorable. Money appears to be heading your way. If a contract is pending, check it over and make final adjustments. 3 stars

Hazel, I hope things are groovy in your world - I hope you are going to enjoy your Grey Cup weekend - remember, "Our Balls Are Bigger!"

Song of the Day on Hazelspeeps - just because

Everybody Everybody - Black Box

Peesth Out...Buh Bye!
