Tilt Report - Ottawa Embarrassment

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson seems to be able to make enemies no matter who the opposition is. Ottawa fans cheered for their captain taking a cheap slap shot at Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer at the end of the second period, Alfredsson clearly showed that he may be a classless player on a team that prides itself on being classy. Topping it off, the Senators captain took a cheap shot at Sami Pahlsson during the ensuing scrum after the referees stepped in. Then turned away when Niedermayer chased him down...real tough guy "Alfie" is.

The Ottawa Senators and their fans ought to be embarrassed by this latest antic by their captain, who clearly demosntrated the Senator's frustration by shooting the puck at Niedermayer. What was the need to do that in the final 3 seconds with no pressure from the Ducks? Had that been a Ducks player or a Leafs player, Scotiabank Place would have errupted in a chorus of boos. But alas, the Senatards are blinded by their belief that Alfie is a "classy" player. Outside of a few lines in the media, Alfredsson's actions went pretty much unnoticed in the Canadian captial - which only adds to the embarrassment.

I for one hope that Pronger shows up for game 5 and lays a beat down on Alfredsson.

Kudos:

Andy MacDonald scored two goals for the Ducks...I'm sure that Chris Neil was dreading this and dreading even more that he actually didn't hit MacDonald.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere was phenomenal during the opening 10 minutes of the first period. Ray Emery, despite his hot start to the Stanely Cup finals is showing that he's no JS Giguere.

Don Cherry gets the final nod from me. Say what you want about Cherry, but the man used his debut on NBC to embarrass the US network for its stance on fighting. And since when did Cherry adopt Brett Hull as a son?
