Tuesday's Notables
Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.
Well, another couple of hours wasted last night watching the SenaTards and Devils at Scotiabank Place. I don't know what to say about last night's game, other than there were so many things to hate about it. The Devils played an average game, generating a few (and I mean just a few) good scoring chances and failed to capitalize on any of them - they relied on Martin Brodeur last night...the only problem is BRODEUR CAN'T SCORE. For their part, last night's game demonstrated why these clowns (the SenaTards) don't have what it takes to win it all. They spent a good portion of the night reprising Linda Blair's role in the Exorcist, with their heads spinning around to look at the referees every time a Devils' player so much as breathed on them. It was a bad game all around, though SenaTards fans will tell you it was old fashioned playoff hockey - it wasn't. Sorry "B".
The San Jose Sharks beat Detroit by a count of 2-1 last night to take a 2-1 lead in their series. Last night's game was the opposite of the Tards/Devils game - end to end rushes, a lot of physical play, open ice hits and a decent amount of scoring chances. Joe Thornton was a monster last night - Detroit's defencemen couldn't handle Thornton down low behind the net and they didn't have much of an answer when he was breaking in over the blue line on the rush. The game may have been low scoring but it was exciting to watch.
Let's not talk baseball today - bad news from the West Coast.
HAZEL'S THREE STARS
Toronto Blue Jays P Roy Halladay was dominant last night - Doc pitched a complete game, giving up only one run on five hits while striking out eight. I like watching this guy pitch; he works fast and comes right at hitters.
Milwaukee Brewers P Jeff Suppan also pitched a complete game last night against the Cardinals, giving up one run on eight hits and a walk while striking out five. Word is that Albert Pujols played last night and got a hit to raise his average to .250.
San Jose Sharks C Joe Thornton finished the game with one assist - but you had to see how he dominated the game to really appreciate what he did last night.
TUESDAY THREE PLAY
Tough night last night going 2-1 and still winding up in the red - thanks for nothing Padres. Oh well, we aren't putting down any real cash - so better a blow to the ego than to the bank account. Tonight's suggestions
Buffalo over NY Rangers - the Sabres weren't "Lindy on the road" this year, and the NHL's best road team should be able to win one at MSG. Lay $100 on the Sabres at even money.
Philadelphia over Atlanta - we like Cole Hamels to shut the Braves down tonight. Lay $100 on the Phillies - $125.
Los Angeles over Arizona - Red Sox West have been having a bad time at home lately, Chad Penny will put an end to that tonight. Lay $100 on the Dodgers - $160.
My pal Renee will get a laugh out of today's picks if she is checking in.
That's about it for today gang - have a great one peeps.
HAZEL'S TUESDAY HOROSCOPE
The travel bug may be biting you. Give in. You deserve a break, so put some plans in motion. Love looks promising so, if you are single, get out and meet new people and, if you aren't, make special plans for two. 3 stars
Hazel, I hope things are groovy in your world.
