Grand National Drunk

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

In case Hazel didn't check in - the B.C. Lions won yesterday's 94th Grey Cup (aka the Grand National Drunk) by a 25-14 count over the Montreal Alouettes in what was a forgettable game. The game was dominated by the defences - or if you are a "glass half empty" kind of person, both offences sputtered. However you choose to look at it, the Lions complete a dominant season by winning the big one. The most exciting part of the game was the trash talking shouting match before the opening coin toss. Word after the game was that B.C. broke the damn cup during their celebration - best line by a Lions' coach "you break it, you bought it."

In the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys put an end to Peyton Manning and the Colts' dream of an undefeated season. The Cowboys were all over Manning in the first quarter, and were in his head so bad you could have sworn that Belichick was coaching the Cowboys D. Other notables: the San Diego Chargers served notice that they are the front runners for supremacy in the AFC, coming back from 17 down against the league's best defence - guess who had a big game for the Chargers? The Eagles lost to the Titans, and more importantly lost their Chunky Soup lovin' mama's boy in the process - McNabb is out for the year with a torn ACL, I told you the Eagles were counterfeit. Tom Brady showed everyone that he is just fine, throwing 4 TDs in a rout of the Packers.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS
B.C. Lions' K Paul McCallum kicked six field goals in B.C.'s win - McCallum wasn't named the game's MVP, but given that his last appearance at the Grey Cup resulted a missed field goal that cost Saskatchewan the championship - he deserves the spotlight. McCallum's day tied the all-time record for field goals in a Grey Cup game.

Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson is the NFL's version of Big Papi on this page. L.T. lead the Charges to a 35-27 victory over the Broncos, with 105 rushing yards and 74 through the air. Tomlinson scored four TDs in the victory - going over 100 for his career.

Cincinnati Bengals' WR Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson caught six passes for 190 yards and three TDs to lead the Bengals to a 31-16 victory over the Saints in New Orleans. Say what you want about Johnson - but he backs up his talk with game.

Honourable mention goes to the Dallas Cowboys defence for shutting down the Colts.

MONDAY THREE PLAY
We had a great day yesterday - thanks to money lines at Bowmans. We started off the day at -$565, but erased most of it with 4 winners at 1p.m., a loss at 4 p.m., and winning two of three in the evening. For the week we finished - $70, leaving our three week total at + $330. We'll start the week with a few winners.

Buffalo over Tampa Bay - the Sabres have lost two out of three, they'll bring it back online with a win over the Lightning who dropped one to the Rangers last night. Lay $50 on Buffalo - $260.

Dallas over Colorado - I like the Stars at home in this one - they are better in every facet of the game. Lay $50 on the Stars - $180.

Jacksonville - 3.5 over NY Giants - I like the money line much better (- $185) but I'll give up the 3.5 against a banged up Giants team. I expect the Jags to dominate the Giants physically and beat them up a little before beating them. Lay $50 on the Jags.

That's about it for today gang - have a great one peeps!
