Did Hazel Say Buh Bye?
Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.
The World Cup is providing plenty of surprises - enough for a Weird, Whacked and Wild Wednesday update...but that will come tomorrow. Germany said buh bye to one of the legitimate pre-tournament favourites - Czech Republic; and a counterfeit #5 team from the U.S. (sorry American soccer fans, they were never seen as a threat).
It is very likely that by Sunday night, the tournament will be without FIFA's 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ranked teams. The Argentines should dispense with Mexico rather easily on Saturday, which means that we won't see Ms. Mexico anymore (the stunning woman in the Mexico tube top who was shown in the stands during the game against Portugal). Speaking of Portugal, they should dispatch with the freaky deaky Dutch on Sunday afternoon.
Things to consider, in the spirit of a weird, whacked and wild World Cup:
- Will Togo take the field tomorrow? There has been all sorts of controvery with the coach and players threatening to walk out on the world's biggest stage in a dispute over what else - money.
- Will the sad sack French National Team be bounced in the opening round of the third successive major tournament they are in? A tie between the Swiss and the Koreans would leave the French needing victory by 2 or more goals - somewhat of a tall order for these guys.
- First word of a team being harrassed upon their return home - the Costa Ricans came home to a crowd of people who showed up to greet them with insults and disparaging remarks about their performance in Germany.
- The man the Brazilian press was calling "Fatty" - Ronaldo - scored two goals today to tie him for 1st in all-time World Cup goals.
- In non-World Cup news - two Italian soccer giants, Juventus and A.C. Milan may be taking a tumble for match fixing.
- Diego Maradona is making news again - this time for tax evasion.
Hazel, I hope things are groovy in your world.
Song of the Night on Hazelspeeps - for the Czechs and the U.S soccer teams.
A Saudade - Traditional Folk Song from the Azores (you don't have to understand the words...just listen to the melody and harmony - you'll get it).
Peesth Out...Buh Bye!
