Showtime
Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. As is customary, a special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.
Well, its the NCAA men's basketball final tonight - surprise surprise, seems like everybody and their brother likes Florida tonight. Well, I've gone on record as saying UCLA would win and I'm going to stick to that - defence wins championships...isn't that how the saying goes?
Opening Day 2006 is almost in the books - notable performances today include:
Albert Pujols smashing two HRs and four RBI leading the Cards over the Phillies - apologies to Red Sox Nation, but Pujols is the best hitter in the majors...followed closely by Ortiz and Ramirez...three Dominicans - who'da thunk it?
Matt Murton's day of 3/5 with a HR and three RBI was enough to help the Cubs over the Reds and Aaron Harang (0-1, 10.80) - but not enough to help Carlos Zambrano (0-0, 9.64) get the win.
Jim Thome started the year off right for the White Sox with a HR and two RBI.
Jake Peavy pitched 7 strong innings against the Giants today and looks destined to get the opening day win as of 9:45 pm.
Melvin Mora hit a HR today as Baltimore beat Tampa Bay this afternoon.
For members of Red Sox Nation - Curt Schilling (1-0, 2.54) pitched a solid game for the Sox today, and got plenty help from Big Papi 3/5 with a HR and three RBI.
For those of you who were checking in for this week's Hazie Awards (the Heroes and Not-So-Heroic), consider tonight's post a teaser. The players whose names have been bolded are the proud members of Hazel Mae's Hackers of the Hazelspeeps Fantasy Baseball League - give them all a Hazie. Those in red happen to be part of my good pal Renee's Naughty Girls team - some pretty sparkling opening day numbers by that pitching staff huh? If she loses to me this year...one of the things she is going to have to do is call me "Papi". That's just ONE of them - we are still working out details of our side bet(s)...if she dares.
I'm going to watch a bit of the Florida/UCLA game. Back with more later...
Song of the Night on Hazelspeeps - for the NCAA final game
Jump Around - House of Pain (how is that for a Boston connection?)
Peesth Out!
