People Who Need To Be Beaten

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae if she is checking in.

Short and to the point today - we're more than just a little crusty after yesterday's Euro 2008 qualifier. Serbia scored in the 87th minute to tie Portugal at one yesterday in Lisbon. What made it so hard to take was that the goal was scored by a player who was CLEARLY (read three yards) in an offside position. The Referee Marcus Merk who was whistle happy throughout the game, and his linesman, suddenly became the three blind mice on that particular play. You can bet that had this happened against a country with a strong federation - ie. England, Italy, Germany, or Spain - the cartel we all know and hate as FIFA would have publicly admonished Mr. Merk and make sure that things would be "made right" in the next few games.

I'm starting to think that this team is cursed - much like the Golden Generation was cursed in the mid-90's.

WEDNESDAY'S THREE JACKASSES
FIFA Official Marcus Merk influenced the outcome of yesterday's game - he deserves to be beaten. If that game took place in South America, you could bet you'd be watching Merk on you tube running for his life and fans and players looked to pound him.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that Toronto Maple Leafs LW Mark Bell would be suspended for the first 15 games of the upcoming season for being convicted of drunk driving. For those of you comparing - in the eyes of the stupid midget - drunk driving is twice as bad as jumping a player from behind, driving him head first into the boards and pounding him to withing an inch of his life. That's right folks - Todd Bertuzzi was suspended for a grand total of eight regular season games - Mark Bell gets fifteen. I'm not saying Bell didn't deserve to be suspended - I am merely pointing out an example of why people think the NHL is a damn joke.

Toronto Blue Jays CF Vernon Wells went 0 for 4 last night - three of those outs came against Mike Mussina, who Hazel could probably take over the fence. Vernon's 0 for blew up a huge Pro-Line ticket. Vernon should just do everyone a favour and take the rest of the damned season off? Shoulder or whatever - the guy has been a fucking joke this year.

THURSDAY THREE PLAY
A perfect 4-0 last night to bring the total back into the black, + $145 for the week. Today's suggestions:

California over Baltimore - most teams rebound from being pounded the night before - not this year's Baltimore Orioles though...they're just playing out the string. John Lackey goes for the Angels tonight and we suggest backing him. Lay $100 on the Angels - $190.

Toronto over New York - the Jays are 16 games out of first and 11 games out of a Wild Card spot - so this is where they really turn things up a notch or two. They're champs when they are out of the race - so you can expect all the cliches tonight about playing hard every game and being spoilers (unless Greg Zaun is talking - he likes to that it was the biggest win of the season). Lay $100 on Toronto - $105.

Oakland over Texas - remember what we have said about looking for value. Chad Gaudin vs. Kevin Millwood and the road wimp Rangers is constitutes value. Lay $100 on the A's - $115.

That's about it for today gang - thanks for taking the time to check in on this angry Thursday.

Hazel, we hope things are groovy in your world.

We're Out!
