Big News Out Of Boston

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae if she is checking in.

We aren't going to talk about the Red Sox loss to Baltimore yesterday - they are still five games up and there is no reason to panic, really. The Sox will get it together and win the division without sweating it too much.

The big news is that Patriots safety Rodney Harrison has been suspended for the first for games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. To harrison's credit, he stepped up and didn't offer any excuses - he was a man about it; you have to respect the guy.

In other news form the NFL - great news for fans of the Dallas Cowboys. The New York Giants announced that Michael Strahan has decided to return to the team - we couldn't be happier about it. The Giants are definitely worse off with with this over-rated, over-paid, big mouth on the line. It is gong to be a long season in New York - haha.

In other news from Europe - the Canadian junior team swept the Russians in the first four games of the "Super Series" - we're trying to get excited here.

FRIDAY'S THREE STARS
Minnesota Twins P Scott Baker came within a couple of outs of pitching a no-hitter last night, one out after having lost his chance at a perfect game in a 5-0 win over the Royals. One hit, one walk and nine strikeouts is still a pretty impressive line.

St. Louis Cardinals RF Rick Ankiel his a grand slam to lead the Cards to an 8-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds yesterday - this guy is one of the really good stories in baseball this year.

Tampa Bay 1B Carlos Pena hit two solo home runs and Andy Sonnanstine gave up one unearned run on two hits in eight shutout innings, as the Rays pounded the Yankees by a score of 9-1. We aren't the kind to say "told you so" but read yesterday's three play.

SATURDAY THREE PLAY
We stand by our picks here - for better or worse; but we aren't going to take the hit for Boston's loss yesterday. We don't have a bookmaker that we can call up at 6:00 am for game lines - so we go with lines from Bowmans. Yesterday Bowman's had a line based on Wakefield starting - as Tavarez ended up starting, the pick is cancelled - meaning we wound up + $20 for the day and + $240 for the week. Today's suggestions:

Chicago over Houston - Wandy Rodriguez screwed us yesterday with a good game on the road, the Astros won't get that kind of performance again today. Expect the Cubs, who are feeling the Brewers coming on, to win today. Lay $100 on the Cubs - $165.

Boston over Baltimore - Red Sox phenom Clay Buccholz makes his second start tonight and we expect it to be better than the first. Lay $100 on the Sox - $205.

Seattle over Toronto - the Mariners have to win eventually, might as well be with former Jays P Miguel Batista on the mound. Lay $100 on the M's + $105.

We will definitely be back later with a couple more suggestions - after the early games are over.

That's it for this afternoon gang - thanks for taking the time to check in. Have a great one peeps!

Hazel, we hope things are groovy in your world.

We're Out!
