A Not-So Shiny Schilling

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

There isn't much to talk about today. The NHL is going European now as redirecting a puck into the opposition's net is now league. Brendan Shananhan of the New York Rangers clearly redirected a puck into the net with his skate last night and somehow those idiots in the NHL war room allowed it. It was so blatant that even Beckham would be proud of it.

Speaking of the Maple Leafs, they went into Madison Square Garden and beat the Rangers last night by a 2-1 count, in a game where Andrew Raycroft was unbelievable - especially in the 3rd period. In what is sure to bring a smile to Hazel's face, the Leafs have now won 6 of 8, and are 9-4-1 in their last 14.

So you should all know we have a group on yahoo - link above. I have spent the last couple of days reviewing all the messages that were left while I was gone - the following message stood out head and shoulders above the rest (probably because I am in total agreement with it) and I thought it was worth sharing on this site. The post was in relation to Curt Schilling's proclamation that he would return in 2008 - the following from our Commish Drisc:

I love Curt Schilling as a competitor and as a pitcher, but he is an egotistical asshole for the most part. The lead in for the hours before the interview with Schilling on the Dennis and Callahan (#1 on air asshole) show was about a major announcement by Curt. The announcement was simply a statement of the facts. He is a free agent at the end of the year and wants to keep playing. He wants to be a Red Sox, but would entertain offers after the season if an extension was not reached prior to spring training. There was absolutely no news in his announcement.
Curt Schilling does not care for all the attention regarding the Red Sox being focused on other players. He loves to hear himself talk about anything and everything. I cringe every time he goes on and on about his views on the game of baseball and his philosophies and his approah to playing etec. He is a baseball player, not the Dali Lama.
As a baseball player you sign a contract, play the games and either extend with your present team or go elsewhere. It is not that complicated! It is obvious to me that Schilling wants to be Roger Clemens at the end of his career where each off season is spent speculating whether he will pitch and who will he pitch for. The Red Sox should determine what they feel he is worth and make him an offer. If it is not good enough for him then see what happens after the season.
This guy simply wants the attention focused on him for a while. He is tired of the Japanese Emporer being signed, Manny or no Manny, the J.D. Drew affair and now the Helton watch. He believes this is his team and that the Red Sox should be courting him from now on.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS
Portuguese International Crisitiano Ronaldo scored his 14th goal yesterday to lead Manchester United to a 4-0 victory over Watford.

Toronto Maple Leafs G Andrew Raycroft was outstanding last night, stopping 37 of 38 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Rangers at MSG. He was so good last night, that it looked like he only had to come up big a few times - his positioning was almost perfect last night.

Toronto Maple Leafs Captain Mats Sundin had a goal and an assist last night - the goal marked his 16th season with at least 20 goals. The man has never received his due from the fans and media.

We'll be back with the Three Play later in the week.

That's it for this morning gang, be sure to scroll down for last night's entry - there is a poker story there that is sure to make you laugh. Have a great one peeps!
