When in doubt, don't mess with Hockey God
Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae if she is checking in.
Today's post is for the seventeen or so remaining Boston Bruins fans - how did you feel about the news that Peter Chiarelli traded former SenaTards RW Brandon Bochenski to Anaheim for former SenaTards D Shane Hnidy and a six round draft pick? You should be afraid, very very afraid for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that a donkey like Peter Chiarelli, in his ongoing quest to transform the Boston Bruins into the Massachusetts SenaTards, is going to try to match wits with Brian Burke.
This is going to be another bad trade by Chiarelli - he will pass it off as bringing in a gritty defenceman to help the Bruins "be a tougher team to play against"; don't buy it. Hnidy is a depth defenceman - 5th or 6th at best - who may give you 8 to 10 decent minutes of ice time a game. The Bruins are starting to look like the team everyone thought they would be and look like they are making changes for the sake of making changes. Chiarelli is going to come out looking bad on this one - inevitably, the Bruins will try to make it look like a good trade by giving Hnidy way more minutes than he is capable of playing; while Burke will give Bochenski a five to ten game trial (surround him with a few good players) before pulling the trigger on him and sending him to the minors.
Burke has a luxury that Chiarelli doesn't have - depth on his roster. The difference is that Burke can just get rid of anyone that isn't playing up to NHL standards - he has options; Chiarelli is in a position where he has to justify making the trade and will put guys in roles they aren't capable of succeeding in - see Bochenski (1st or 2nd line winger - HA!).
Be worried B's fans - this trade is proof positive that your GM is as clueless as JFJ is in Toronto. He's grasping at straws now, looking for retreads from the SenaTards, it is only a matter of a few weeks before you find yourself in 10th place in the Eastern Conference; not that any of you will notice, because by that time, the Patriots will be lining up to play the Cowboys in the Super Bowl.
WEDNESDAY'S THREE STARS
Calgary Flames LW Kristian Huselius had a goal and three assists in a 4-3 win over the Rangers last night - for good measure, RW Jarome Iginla added two goals to help the cause.
Anaheim Ducks G J.S. Giguere made 26 saves in a 2-1 win over Columbus.
Three Maeple Leafs make the cut this morning - meaning someone is going to get their ass handed to them in the yahoo fantasy hockey pool.
THURSDAY THREE PLAY
Another tough night going 2-1 and decreasing the total slightly. We'll get it right tonight.
Montreal over Tampa Bay - the Lightning are just brutal on the road and have issues between the pipes - can't see them winning in Montreal tonight. Lay $100 on the Habs - $165.
Nashville over Edmonton - the Predators get to play an Oilers team that went into O/T last night against the Blues; good news when you are sitting at home waiting for your opposition. Lay $100 on the Preds - $185.
We'll continue to look at things and update later this afternoon - maybe.
That's it for today gang - thanks for taking the time to check in. Have a great one.
Hazel, we hope things are groovy in your world.
We're Out!
