Wednesday Night Three Play

Hey all…

The afternoon picks split – Mets P John Maine kept up his end of the deal by getting shelled again, but who would have though Tom Shearn (Tom Shearn???) would pitch six shutout innings? But with our upset special, the Phillies, we finish the afternoon in the black. We’re still feelin’ it, so we’ve got three more suggestions for tonight.

Detroit over Chicago – Kenny Rogers makes his first start since coming off the DL and he has pitched some great games coming off the DL; Gavin Floyd comes into the game with an ERA of 6.92. Do you really think that the Tigers, even though they have been awful, are going to get swept at home by the White Sox? We don’t either. Lay $100 on the Tigers - $230.

Tampa Bay over Baltimore – like we said yesterday about Texas over Kansas City, look for value in games that mean nothing. The DRays are the hottest team in the American League right now, while the O’s are looking like they just want to get things over with. Hard to believe we are back Sonnanstine (even though we called him over the Yankees). Lay $100 on Tampa - $145.

St. Louis over Pittsburgh – Mark Mulder is coming back after a lengthy stay on the DL, but his career numbers against the Pirates read like this: 6–0 2.68 ERA – that’s good enough for us. Lay $100 on the Cards - $155.

We aren’t going anywhere near:

Toronto vs Boston – Marcum has pitched some beauties lately;
Padres vs DBacks – Jake Peavy pitching on three days rest;
Red Sox West vs. Cubs – no way we are going against Big Blue these days.

That’s it for this afternoon gang – thanks for taking the time to check in. Good luck if you play them. We’ll be turning our attention to this week’s NFL games – we’ll post our pool picks tomorrow.

We’re Out!
