About Last Night

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

The news of the day comes from Chicago, where White Sox P Mark Buehrle threw a no-hitter last night against Texas; as a matter of fact, he faced the minimum number of batters, giving up only one walk while striking out eight.

The Atlanta Thrashers were bounced out of the playoffs last night after losing 4-2 in New York last night - I wonder how safe Atlanta GM Don Waddell is this morning; he mortgaged a good piece of his team's future before the trade deadline - and all he has to show for it is two home games. How do ya like Keith Tkachuk now?

The Sabres and Sharks both won to take commanding 3-1 series leads - while the Lightning blew a chance to do the same against the Lou Lamoriello's New Jersey Devils. The Lightning looked like they were destined to win last night, as they fought back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game and send it into overtime - but a turnover in the Devils' end during overtime led to a Scott Gomez goal, and with it, a ticket out of the series for the Lightning. To a man, the Lightning left the ice with their heads down - I don't think they will recover from last night's loss; as much as I'd love to see them beat the Devils, I think NJ wins the next two.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are facing elimination tonight as they come to town to visit the SenaTards - here's hoping that Gary Roberts brings his A-game. I still think that a win tonight brings Pittsburgh right back in this series with a 50/50 chance to make it all the way back to win it. "B" if you are reading this this morning...sorry.

The Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks can both close out their first round series with wins tonight - we like both of them tonight.

HAZEL'S THREE STARS

As mentioned earlier, Chicago White Sox P Mark Buerhle threw a no-hitter last night against the Rangers.

Oakland A's P Dan Haren threw seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels yesterday afternon - pretty good pick up for the Maeple Leafs in the yahoo pool.

San Jose Sharks G Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves in a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators last night.

THURSDAY THREE PLAY
Another tough day yesterday - with the Tigers blowing a two run lead in the ninth to kill the day yesterday. For the week we stand at - $453, time to make things right.

Milwaukee over Pittsburgh - we'll go with Jeff Suppan to get it done this afternoon against the Pirates. Lay $100 on Milwaukee - $130.

Cincinnati over Houston - we'll back Arroyo tonight at home against Woody Williams and the Astros. Lay $100 on the Reds - $140.

San Diego over Arizona - we'll go with Peavy to keep the D-Backs in check. Lay $100 on the Padres - $170.

New York over Cleveland - Red Sox fans will remember the name Faustoo Carmona, he's pitching today at Yankee Stadium - you know what that means. Lay $100 on the Yankees - $155.

That's it for today gang - have a great one peeps!

KEEPING HAZEL UP ON WHAT'S WHAT IN TORONTO
We hear that Hazel doesn't need to be kept up on what's what in Toronto this week.

HAZEL'S THURSDAY HOROSCOPE
