The News Keeps Getting Better

So the World Cup wraps up tomorrow - today for me, as Portugal plays Germany for 3rd place (insert ugh here). Just when I thought I couldn't be more disappointed - word from Germany comes in that the Best Young Player Award was given to Lukas Podolski of Germany, as the Committee decided to ignore the fan vote they had solicited to decide on the award. Fans watching the World Cup had voted for Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo - but Committee Chairman Franz Beckenbauer said they had decided to ignore fan votes, instead penalizing Ronaldo for "diving" - ah the FIFA cartel rides again...more on this later.

Also, word had come down that Luiz Felipe Scolari is stepping down as Manager of the Portuguese National Team - to be officially announced Tuesday... But this morning's news says he wants to stay - damn British press always starting stuff.
