Happy Fourth Of July

Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae.

A very happy Independence Day to our friends south of the border - while you all enjoy afternoon baseball today, the eyes of the rest of the world will be on semi-final game #1 of the World Cup between Germany and Italy.

I don't know who to pick in this game - there is a case to be made for and against both. They are fairly evenly matched, with the Italians having the edge on defence and in goal, especially with Gianluca Buffon.

Germany
Pro - they have gotten better every game and they have the crowd behind them...their 12th man.

Con - they are coming off a shoot-out win over Argentina last Friday, and that 120 minutes on the field could catch up with them today.

Italy
Pro - Their defence is rock solid and they are starting to get some scoring from up front

Con - The have just as good a chance of self-destructing.

I wouldn't be mortgaging the house on the outcome of this game - but if I had to pick, I would say that Italy wins today by a count of 2-1 (it pains me to say that...I don't want to see Italy in the final). I've got to book gang...have a great one peeps.
