Good, Bad or Indifferent?
Hey Peeps and anyone else checking in. A special "Hey" goes out to Hazel Mae (who may or may not be in shock if she checked in to see Renee's 2006 recap).
So my pal Renee's Winners and Losers of 2006 was something else huh? Surprisingly, for all the knock down, drag 'em out, bitch slapping battles we had on hazelspeeps - I'm down with MOST of Renee's picks. Obviously, I would have found a way to get Hazel on the list - "Best Looking Celebrity" (after Commish Drisc's baby girl of course). I'm NOT AT ALL DOWN with nominating Angelina Jolie as one of the Ugliest Celebrities - no way, no how. Angelina is definitely in the Top 5 of the "To Do" list...without a doubt. But that's the beauty of my pal Renee - if nothing else, she is certainly provocative.
I don't know if being left off Renee's list is a good sign, a bad one, or just indifference - I guess I'll take comfort in the fact that I wasn't lumped in with Rosie O'Donnell.
If you have a problem with her choices - leave her a comment, or email her at renee_unplugged at yahoo.com. Don't be afraid to let her have it.
In hockey news the Canadian Junior National Team is now 2-0 at the World Juniors Championships in Sweden after a 6-3 win over the USA yesterday - we'd like to think that Hazel has her eye on our Jr. team and that she hasn't gone over to the dark side and become a U.S.A chanter.
HAZEL'S THREE STARS
Atlanta Thrashers' G Kari Lehtonen stymied Crosby and Malkin last night, making 35 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Lehtonen kept Crosby off the score sheet and limited Malkin to one assist - a pretty damn good feat in Pittsburgh.
Dallas Stars' C Jeff Halpern had a goal and two assists in a 5-4, come from behind victory over the Avalanche last night in Colorado. Halpern stepped up to lead a Stars team that was without Mike Modano, Eric Lindros and Captain Brendan Morrow (who had wrist surgery and will be out of the lineup indefinitely).
Montreal Canadiens' G Cristobal Huet silenced Ovechkin and the Capitals yesterday, turning away 30 shots in a 4-1 victory in Washington last night. Enjoy the ride for now Habs fans - you'll be calling for his head in March when he reverts to form.
THURSDAY THREE PLAY
Tough night last night going 1-2 and winding up - $68. Our total for the week stands are + $107. We'll get back to our winning ways tonight.
Buffalo over Carolina - while Renee applauded the Canes in her blog entry last night - that was for their accomplishment last season, this season is a different story. I'm taking the Sabres to build on their big win over the Caps. Lay $50 on Buffalo - $200.
San Jose over Phoenix - things have gotten away from the Sharks lately, they haven't been playing great at home, but we think that the Coyotes are the perfect cure for what ails the Sharks. Lay $50 on San Jose - $330 (don't let the money line scare you).
We'll leave it at that for now...we may be back later with an additional pick.
That's it for this morning gang - have a great one peeps!
HAZEL'S THURSDAY HOROSCOPE
You may feel as if you've been pushed to the limit but now is not the time to let things get to you. Change is good. You thrive on it, so let the past go and prepare yourself for an adventure. 3 stars
Hazel, I hope things are groovy in your world.
Song of the Day on Hazelspeeps - because I can't get a feel for how Renee really feels about the year that was in 2006 (insert sarcastic laugh)
